Do you need an immigration lawyer for applying for residency in Panama?
Panamanian law stipulates that individuals must have legal representation when applying for a visa in Panama.
At PGS Attorneys, we firmly believe that seeking legal counsel isn’t just about fulfilling legal requirements. It’s about making the entire process smoother and more accessible for foreign nationals who may not be familiar with Panama’s public institutions and find dealing with the National Immigration Service to be a bit overwhelming.
For instance, when applying for the Friendly Nations Visa, there are specific requirements like apostilling or legalizing documents at the Panamanian Consulate, obtaining certificates from various institutions, dealing with banking procedures or the Public Registry, and presenting other documents that demonstrate the need for temporary or permanent residency. All these can be quite challenging without the guidance of an attorney.
Our team of lawyers will work diligently to ensure that your application is complete, minimizing the risk of returns, delays, or denials from the Immigration authorities, whether in Chiriquí or Panama City.
At PGS Attorneys, we possess extensive expertise and knowledge of the regulations and rules governing Panama’s various visa options. Our commitment to providing bilingual, personalized, and attentive legal guidance ensures that you’ll navigate the process with confidence and ease. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire an immigration lawyer in Panama?
The professional fees of an immigration lawyer vary depending on the type of visa or residence you want to apply for, the necessary legal representation, and the management of the documents required for this purpose. If you want to clarify your doubts and obtain a personalized budget, we recommend scheduling an appointment with a member of our team in immigration law.
What questions should I ask the immigration lawyer before hiring them?
If you are thinking of hiring the services of a lawyer to start your immigration process, make sure to ask them the following basic questions:
- What is your experience in these types of immigration processes?
- What are my options under current immigration laws?
- What requirements do I need to start the process?
- What is the cost of your professional services and what does it include?
- If I have no options, how can I stay “legally” in the country?
- Is there anything I should know about immigration policies?
Can I carry out the immigration process on my own without the help of an immigration lawyer in Panama?
Most of the procedures and processes for immigration regularization in Panama require to be submitted and managed by Panamanian lawyers as part of the current formalities; therefore, legal assistance from a professional in immigration law is recommended to carry out the procedure and avoid any inconvenience.
